Scientists believe that the use of organic products has both short-term and long-term potential for improving health. But what exactly do we mean by organic production? As mentioned, the organic or natural product is processed without the intervention of toxins and chemical fertilizers. In fact, it is an agricultural method that does not use chemical fertilizers in any of the stages from planting to harvesting, collecting and packing crops. Although these products were initially only available in small shops or local farmers’ markets due to their unconventional nature, they have become widely available in most stores in recent years. Organic standards in Iran and the world are intended to obtain natural and quality agricultural products. In order to receive this certificate, it is necessary to observe the necessary certificates in the sectors of production, breeding, processing, cultivation, harvesting and packaging of agricultural and food products.
Three types of components are defined in the organic system:
- Agriculture (Agriculture and Horticulture)
- Fisheries Department (Fishery Products Breeding)
- Livestock and poultry (meat and laying)
Types of organic certification:
In the organic system, there are two types of auditing and ISO issuance:
- Organic Producer Certificate
- Organic processor certification
What are the requirements for exporting organic products?
In order to export your product, the process of production, processing and processing of the product must be in full compliance with the principles and laws of the European Union and other valid international standards. To export to Europe and obtain organic COI certification, you must formally submit your application to the inspection company. Be aware that this standard is mandatory for entry into the customs of European countries. Only with a COI certificate is it possible to register and track your product at the customs of the destination country, and if the procedures followed are in full compliance with their laws, you will be allowed to enter the target market.
International Certificate: The geography of the destination country is very important for issuing an international certificate. For example, to export to European countries, you must have previously obtained an organic certificate from the European Union (approved in the 90s). By obtaining this certificate, you will be able to offer organic products to all countries in the European region, major countries in Asia and the Americas.Although there are various global rules and standards for organic certification, the most important are the European Union Organic Law (EU) and the US National Organic Program (NOP) and the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS).Be aware that you cannot export your products to Japan just by having an EU certificate. Offering organic products in reputable international chain stores such as NETO, REWE, LIDL, WAKMART and without the need to obtain a very valuable and well-known Global G.A.P.
Organic laws of the European Union(EU)
European countries were among the first to support and defend the supply of organic products to their markets. EU Organic Laws are one of the most authoritative and well-known laws in the field of organic products. With EU certification, you can export your products to most countries in all 5 continents. Remember that Europe is the first and most important organic market in the world, headed by Germany.
US National Organic Program (NOP)
The second most important organic certification in the natural and organic food sector is the US National Organic Program (NOP). The certification is recognized by the United States, Canada, and other continents. Keep in mind that the second largest global market for organic materials is the United States and Canada.
Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS)
Japan has its own rules and certificates in the range of food-related laws, from production and processing to import and supply. Although the NOP and EU rules are very acceptable to Japan, it is not enough to have such certificates to export to this country, but you must have succeeded in obtaining the Japan Agricultural Standard (JAS).
